Ephameron: “Wij Twee Samen”

Haas senior, Ephameron, is releasing her new book “Wij Twee Samen” on Thursday at DE Studio in Antwerp. It’s an experimental graphic narrative about slowly losing her father to dementia, and she was on national TV last week explaining all about the process. Have a look at the Cobra / Hoera Cultuur repo

… and see you in a few days:

The Grafixx pleasure pack

Now listen closely, because we’re going to do you an offer you can’t resist: everyone buying a Grafixx weekend pass will not only get access to one night and two entire days of exciting activities, but will also receive two free goodies, both exclusive designs of top-notch quality. Let us present to you…

The Grafixx tote bag by Jon Boam – Everyone will be envious of this super sturdy cotton bag screenprinted by Suburban which can hold a ton of drawing utensils!

The very first Grafixx portfolio with submissions by twenty Grafixx artists – Because you never have enough art, we selected some of our favourite artists from the first three Grafixx editions to submit a design. You’ll get a 13-inch record sleeve filled with twenty square illustrations, offset-printed in two colours at De Wrikker.

You don’t even have to bake us cookies or do any funny dances, just go to www.grafixx.be and reserve your weekend pass now or buy one at the entrance of the festival!

If you can only come for one day, no worries: you can buy the tote bag for € 6 and the portfolio for € 8 at the festival.

Anton Van Hertbruggen / Liam Barrett

Drumrolls please… In September, Huis Haas will welcome two young but oh-so-very promising illustrators: Anton Van Hertbruggen (BE) and Liam Barrett (UK). They both share a passion of handcrafted work, nature and their environment. Prepare yourself for some vibrant colors, gorgeous wildlife and funky characters. Come and join us at the opening party on Friday September 19th from 18h until 21h or check out the exhibition until December 14th, 2014 during Kornél’s opening hours.

Anton Van Hertbruggen is a freelance illustrator/artist who lives and works around Antwerp. By filtering his fascination for suburban life, nature, Flaming Lips concerts, zoology and the American West and mixing it up with scenes from his everyday life, he puts together his own spacious, personal and slightly utopian environments. Most of his works are made up by cycling around at night. Anton has published two books and a third one is floating around in his head. His work has been published by various international magazines and newspapers.

Liam Barrett is a man-boy from the Wales valleys who sometimes gets paid to draw things. He’s recently had his first proper children’s book called “Lil’ Merl and the Dastardly Dragon” published by Flying Eye books. In September he will be bringing a varied selection of work to Kornél, showing his more personal pursuits and serving up a small slice of South Wales.
